Covid & Cake.

Weddings this year have been different. They are smaller than the initial dream but the intimate moments that we are able to have now are something to be talked about! Although 2020 has been a hard year on so many small business and new entrepreneurs, it has really shown me what I wanted for myself and my business. I have had the privilege to shoot along side some phenomenal vendors in the wedding industry over the years and this year was not a let down either!

Caitie and Matt had this vision of elegance and beauty. Although the initial plan was for a much larger gathering in celebration of their marriage, they were able to pull off this stunning intimate live streamed ceremony.

We spent our day at the Arlington Estates in Vaughan, Ontario. And boy, let me tell you, this venue is a dream of dreams. White walls, decorated bridal suite, giant windows full of natural light, stone walls and immaculate grounds. And this list doesn't even capture it all yet! Our vendor team was able to take full advantage of the space with it being an exclusive date for these two.

When we arrived on site we jumped right into the details of the day. Bridal portraits and invitation suites. I am a details kinda girl, and thankfully so was the rest of the team. Florals and rings, earrings and shoes, invitations and custom masks. They had it all. Cody, from Cody Calligraphy, designed a suite that took my heart! The scripture and colours melted my heart. Simplistic. Make sure when your setting up details with your invitation designer that you get an extra set for your photographer. Not only will you love it but your photographer will appreciate it!

Karen & team, from KM Decor and Design, brought a vision to life in the Loggia space. A runway of florals, chandeliers filled with greenery and an archway that brought it all together. Check it out... I mean like come on! Right! What do you think....is this something you'd love to have on your day?

After a year with heart break for so many couples that had to push back or postpone to a different date and even year, there is still hope. Beth & team, from Beth Jacobs Weddings & Events, kept our couple full of warmth and hope. Running a tight and smooth ship made this day feel like it was more than perfect. I mean like who doesn't want to have their day run smooth. I don't know if everyone knows how much planners really do for the couples. Its truly amazing. Dedication right to the end. Not only was Beth able to keep this couples wedding together but she had all aspects thoroughly thought through. Side note: Check out this Vertical Flat lay concept...its the first Ive seen of it and I had the honour of styling and photographing this idea Beth created!! What what!! Can not wait to do it again! Talk about a new perspective.

As the day unfolded there were naturally some harder moments then others. One of them was such an emotional moment when Matt called his Best Man via WhatsApp. Due to Covid19 he was unable to attend but that didn't keep them apart. Not only the perfect boost right before he walked down the isle, the best man also fully dressed in his wedding attire to visually play the part! Hair and all. Now that is a best man through thick and thin. Once everything has been set up and photographed we welcomed the family into the space to enjoy the musicians while we awaited our Bride. Little did they know they were not only there to witness the joining of two hearts but there was two surprises awaiting them as well.

Thank goodness we have technology to live stream to all the family and friends that could not make it to the original day. Matt is so tech savvy. Set up his camera and laptop and away he went. The ceremony was perfect. Vows to make us all laugh and cry and a kiss to seal the deal. But the happiness and love didn't end there. Jumping right into licence signing and cake cutting to keep life sweet, Matt & Caitie reveal that they are not only expecting but also revealed the little bundle will be a GIRL! Im not sure who was more excited and surprised, the couple finding out it was a girl or the viewers on live stream finding out they are expecting and that it was a girl!

Three surprises in one day...now that's how you really enjoy your wedding day. A big thank you to all the vendors who continuously love and work hard for all the couples, stick together and anything can happen.

Congratulations you three! I can not wait to do it all over again next year with your little Miss in tow.

Cheers,

Jessica
